Founding Head of Primary School

Job description

Charterhouse is working on a retained search for a Founding Head of Primary position for a well-known international school to be based in China.  This position entails leading the Primary section of the school and managing the three phases of Primary 1 (Grades 1 and 2), Primary 2, (Grades 3 and 4), and Primary 3 (Grades 5 and 6) and, in doing so, to lead the whole school through the initial phase of establishment as the Founding Head.

The school is scheduled to open in 2020 with students being admitted into Grades 1 and 2. Development will then be through a ‘natural’ growth with admission into Grade 1 only each year. Thus, the Primary Section will be complete after a five-year period whereupon the students will graduate from the Primary School to form the first cohort in the Middle School.

The Head of Primary School will therefore be the only Head of School for a period of up to five years and as such has particular responsibility and significance in establishing the culture and practices of what will eventually be a large and very significant institution.
