Job description

About the client:

Our client is a globally recognized leader in the consumer goods and innovative lifestyle products sector. Driven by a commitment to engineering excellence and cutting-edge design, their R&D hub in the Greater Bay Area delivers high-quality, electro-mechanical products to millions of households worldwide. They're seeking a highly technical, hands-on Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead their NPD team, driving innovation from concept through to high-volume production.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive the end-to-end engineering lifecycle for new product lines, ensuring robust concept evaluation, proof-of-concept validation, and successful manufacturing introduction.
  • Conduct rigorous mechanical and structural design reviews, evaluating mechanics, motion, tolerances, limits, and fits to ensure product integrity.
  • Lead deep-dive technical troubleshooting sessions to resolve complex engineering bottlenecks on the production line and during prototyping.
  • Consolidate engineering breakthroughs, failure analyses, and technical best practices into institutional knowledge to foster continuous team development.
  • Own project planning, task delegation, and timeline scheduling, balancing resources across multiple concurrent NPD tracks.
  • Proactively monitor project health, establishing early-warning indicators for scope or timeline drift, and executing decisive recovery plans.
  • Deliver granular, data-driven progress presentations to top management, demonstrating total command over project technicalities and timelines.
  • Provide robust engineering support to production facilities, optimizing assembly lines and cross-functional manufacturing workflows.

Candidate Profile:

  • 7+ years of decisive leadership/management experience within the Consumer Electrical Appliances, Consumer Electronics, Lighting, or closely related electro-mechanical industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Deep execution background in structural mechanics, motion mechanisms, material limits/fits, and electronics integration/packaging.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering materials, including metals and polymers.
  • Solid understanding of diverse manufacturing methodologies, such as metal stamping, welding, powder coating, electroplating, and advanced polymer processing (extrusion, casting, or film processing).
  • Proficiency with mainstream mechanical CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, ProE Creo, AutoCAD).
