​The Role

Drive, propose, design, and advise the establishment of the Enterprise Data Hub. Lead the data architecture, design its target state, and facilitate the transition to the target state. The data architect is also responsible for driving an architecture mindset and a data-driven culture in the organization. The data architect will define models, policies and standards that will govern the movement, enhancement, integration, catalogue, quality, security, scalability, and availability of data throughout the organization. Another focus of the data architect is to lead the establishment of the technical Data Platform in Hong Kong.

Incorporate functional/business/stakeholder requirements and formulate user stories. Define and document scope of business requirements of the new solution and translate them into functional/technical requirements and documentations.

Ensure that requirements map to the real business needs and are approved by all relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with Functional and SI to shape out end-to-end business process and business requirements for out-of-the-box solution design.

Lead and drive a team of data architects in delivering the modern data platform catering structured and unstructured data based on Azure and AWS

Supervise & drive the establishment of data governance framework and policies.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Build trust and exert influence in all areas of IT and business to develop a data-driven culture among the organization.

• Engage with business and technology leaders to understand strategy, articulate solution options, evaluate trade-offs and influence key decisions.

• Collaborate within and outside of IT to define the data management & governance process and facilitate its adoption.

• Collaborate with technology risk and compliance to ensure alignment with data protection and security policies.

• Employ architecture principles, technology standards, best practices, and practical experience to design data management & governance solutions to facilitate the overall information architecture (data solutions, ingestion, classification, linage & traceability, integration, catalogue, quality, security, scalability, availability, etc.)

• Lead the working groups to improve data quality in HK. Moreover, establish the evergreen process to monitor and continuously improve data quality.

• Partner with application development teams the solutioning of the data management and governance platform

• Partner with application development teams to create and apply data integration patterns between applications running on-premises and in Azure.

• Partner with application development teams to create a Data Lake and data visualization/analytic solutions. Promote usage within IT and to business (Azure Data Lake, Azure ML, Databrick, etc.)

• Partner with application development teams to ensure project/application solution deliveries are aligned with data policies and standards.

• Partner with business to leverage data to tackle business challenges/opportunities, to improve strategic decision making, reduce risk, create operational efficiencies, and fuel business success.

Minimum Job Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in information technology or related discipline

• 12+ years of IT related experience in architect/managerial position, preferably in insurance or financial industry

• A demonstrated track record of making a difference and adding value. Must be able to develop relationships across IT and business units, working cross functionally to achieve results. Experience in executive communication

• Experience in setting up Data Governance and processes in an enterprise environment is preferred. Experience with Cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

• Experience with relational databases and data warehouse such as Azure SQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or others

• Experience with NoSQL DBs such as MongoDB, Azure Cosmos DB, ElastiCache, Redis, Neo4j or others

• Experience with Big Data related solutions such as Azure Data Lake, Azure ML, Databrick, Azure Event Hub or others.
