A prominent Hong Kong-based enterprise with a long-standing presence in the property sector is seeking a Legal Counsel with strong expertise in property-related disputes and contentious matters. The organization is steadily broadening its reach, launching ventures across Asia-Pacific as well as in other key international markets.
This role sits within a fully resourced legal department, comprising a team of experienced lawyers and dedicated support staff. The legal function operates independently from the company secretarial team, allowing for focused legal work and strategic advisory. The team is known for its pragmatic, business-aligned approach and collaborative culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage property-related disputes, including tenancy, building management, and development litigation
- Advise internal teams on contentious legal issues and risk mitigation strategies
- Draft and negotiate contracts tied to property transactions and dispute resolution
- Oversee external counsel on litigation and arbitration matters
- Provide legal updates and training on property law developments
- Support broader legal initiatives as required across the organization
Who You Are:
- A qualified lawyer in Hong Kong or a Commonwealth jurisdiction
- Minimum 8 years PQE, with a strong focus on property litigation and dispute resolution
- Experience in tenancy, building management, and first-hand sales legal matters is highly desirable
- Fluent in English and proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin
- Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, independent, and confident in navigating complex legal challenges
