About the Client:
Our client is is looking for a Materials Director to own and optimize our end-to-end supply chain and materials management function. This is a high-impact, strategic leadership role critical to our operational efficiency, cost management, and customer fulfillment capabilities.
You will be responsible for developing and executing a cohesive materials strategy that ensures the right balance between inventory investment, production support, and service level excellence. The ideal candidate will be a data-driven, hands-on leader with a proven track record of building resilient supply chains in a fast-paced, global manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the overall materials management strategy, aligning with company-wide financial and operational goals.
- Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to ensure cross-functional alignment between demand, supply, and financial plans.
- Drive initiatives to enhance supply chain resilience, mitigate risks, and capitalize on opportunities for cost savings and process improvement.
- Oversee global procurement strategies for direct and indirect materials, focusing on total cost of ownership, quality, and supplier performance.
- Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with key suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Negotiate major contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and ensure a stable supply of critical components.
- Direct the master production scheduling, material requirements planning (MRP), and capacity planning activities.
- Implement and maintain inventory control policies to optimize inventory levels (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) across the global network.
- Achieve target metrics for inventory turns, days of supply, and obsolescence reduction.
- Oversee all aspects of logistics, including inbound freight, warehousing, and outbound distribution to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Manage relationships with 3PL and logistics partners to ensure service level agreements are met or exceeded.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of managers and specialists across planning, procurement, and logistics.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
Candidate's Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or Master's degree is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in materials management, supply chain, or procurement within a global electronics manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced proficiency in MRP/DRP.
- Demonstrated success in:
- Developing and executing a multi-faceted materials strategy.
- Significantly improving inventory turnover and reducing supply chain costs.
- Managing complex, global supply chains with a focus on risk mitigation.
- Leading and negotiating multi-million dollar contracts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization, from the C-suite to the shop floor.
- Station in China is required.
