Job description

Our client is a well-established, capital-backed technology organization with a long-term mandate to develop and commercialize advanced technologies across multiple markets. With substantial financial resources and a strong foundation of organizational stability, the company is entering its next phase of growth and is seeking an accomplished General Counsel to join its executive leadership team.

This is a rare opportunity for a Hong Kong-qualified lawyer with 15+ years of post-qualification experience to define and lead enterprise-level legal strategy. The role offers close collaboration with senior management, technical leaders, and external stakeholders within a sophisticated, innovation-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the organization's global legal function, setting strategic direction aligned with business growth and technology objectives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on legal, regulatory, and risk considerations impacting strategic initiatives
  • Advise on and manage complex commercial, technology, and intellectual property agreements, providing pragmatic, risk-based guidance
  • Drive enterprise-wide compliance, governance, and dispute management, including oversight of litigation and external counsel
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing in-house legal team while partnering closely with key internal stakeholders

Key Requirements

  • Hong Kong-qualified lawyer with a minimum of 15 years' post-qualification experience across a combination of private practice and in-house roles
  • Strong background in technology, IT, and IP-driven environments, including hands-on licensing experience gained at an international law firm
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience managing legal teams and advising at executive and board level
  • Fluency in English, Cantonese, and Putonghua, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
