About the client:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Engineering (ODM Focus) to lead our client's engineering team with a primary focus on ODM development.

This role will drive the design, innovation, and execution of original product designs for our global clients in the electronics sector. The successful candidate will oversee cross-functional teams, foster technological advancements, and ensure seamless integration of ODM projects from concept to market launch; This is a strategic leadership position in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ideal for a professional passionate about pushing the boundaries of electronic product design and manufacturing.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team, including hardware, software, and mechanical engineers, to deliver high-quality ODM projects on time and within budget.
• Oversee the full ODM lifecycle, from market analysis and concept ideation to prototyping, testing, validation, and production handover.
• Collaborate with sales, product management, and clients to identify ODM opportunities, conduct feasibility studies, and develop customized design solutions for sectors such as automotive, telecommunications, medical devices, and consumer electronics.
• Drive innovation in product design, incorporating emerging technologies like IoT, wireless connectivity (e.g., Bluetooth, true wireless), and sustainable materials to enhance product reliability and competitiveness.
• Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16949, ISO 13485, RoHS) and implement best practices in design for manufacturability (DFM), quality assurance, and risk management.
• Manage engineering resources, budgets, and timelines, optimizing processes using tools like Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles.
• Foster partnerships with suppliers, R&D institutions, and technology vendors to stay ahead of industry trends and integrate cutting-edge components.
• Monitor project performance metrics, resolve technical challenges, and report progress to senior leadership.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and professional development within the engineering department.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field; advanced certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt) are advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in electronics engineering, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role focused on ODM or product development in an EMS/ODM environment.
• Proven track record in leading ODM projects from design to commercialization, preferably in automotive, telecom, medical, or consumer electronics.
• Strong technical expertise in PCB design, SMT processes, embedded systems, firmware development, and testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with global manufacturing operations, supply chain management, and cross-cultural team leadership.
• Excellent project management skills, with experience using tools like CAD software (e.g., Altium, SolidWorks), simulation tools, and ERP systems.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities, commercial acumen, and the capacity to balance innovation with cost-effectiveness.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin; additional languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel internationally as required.
