General Counsel Position, Around $3M/Annum, Chinese Language Skills Not Required

Job description

Rare General Counsel position has arisen for legal team leaders working at Hong Kong listed companies to join a leading Hong Kong listed conglomerate.  Based in Hong Kong, the successful candidate will act as the trusted adviser to the Board and other senior management members of the company and will manage a mid-size team of legal and company secretarial professionals across the Asia region.

• Chinese language skills not required
• Around $3M/Annum (Open for the right candidate)
• Travel required (around 25% of time)

The General Counsel will be responsible for advising the Board and senior management with respect to legal implications of all major corporate decisions, strategies and transactions; managing firm-wide policies and corporate governance to mitigate legal risk; and ensuring the company’s ongoing compliance with the Hong Kong Listing Rules and other statutory obligations.

The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 12 years of PQE and have experience working at a sizable Hong Kong listed company with experience across broad commercial and corporate matters and preferably with experience working closely with the Board.  Corporate Partners (ECM + listing compliance experience) from private practice with prior secondment experience with HK-listed companies would also be considered.  Chinese language skills are not required for this position.
